Bio
Sharon Gill, owner/designer of the ebullient fashion line "Sharon Gill NYC," states it's purely kismet, "destiny," that has gotten her so far. Growing up as a child in Mumbai, India she was fascinated by the ethereal, colorful saris worn by her mother and decided that one day she would become a fashion designer and dress beautiful, elegant women. Sharon's father was an international pilot, so she traveled extensively with the family and was exposed at a young age to fashion currents in Paris, London, and Rome. Flipping through fashion magazines in the '80s is what drew Sharon to the designs of Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and finally to New York.
She studied the fashion program at Parsons School of Design in NY, and felt that she had come home, understanding the energy and vibe this city emits.
After nearly a decade of working as a designer and collaborating with companies like Jones NY, Liz Claiborne, and the Gap, Sharon Gill decided to take the brave step out and create her own line. |
| The Customer
Sharon Gill NYC's design mantra is that women want attractive clothes that function in the real world; clothes that simplify a woman's busy lifestyle. The basis: wardrobe essentials that could transition from attending an important meeting, spearheading a corporation, hailing a cab downtown for a business lunch, to collecting the kids from school and finally making it to that Broadway show in the evening. Sharon Gill NYC is a label that encompasses the modern lifestyle of a balanced woman and keeps her looking polished, confident and ready to brave her hectic schedule with grace. |
